Resort Sixty-Six 3rd Green Week

No winner at Resort Sixty-Six for the 3rd week of our green month. No one could correctly answer the question of the week “According to the National Academy of Sciences, the earth is the hottest it has been in the past?" The answer was 400 years.

Resort Sixty-Six 2nd Week Green Winner

We have some very knowledgeable green owners at Resort Sixty-Six. This week’s winner Sharon Redding knew that the amount of energy used to make one aluminum can from virgin metal could have produced twenty cans from recycled aluminum. She was surprised to have correctly answered the question of the week and received this lovely basket of goodies.

Earth Day

So you are wondering what to do this April 22 on Earth Day? Well you might want to celebrate it by seeing Anna Maria Island by taking a nice long walk, bike ride, scooter ride or the latest two fads to hit the island, Segways or golf carts most of which you can rent locally.

While you are out on your island adventure check out some of the different types of Florida trees such as Mangroves, Banyans and one that I really find interesting the Florida Strangler Fig. The interesting thing about the Strangler Fig is that the seed germinates at the top of the host tree and the seedling lives independently of the host until its roots touch the ground. Once it does it grows large enough and it strangles its host. It will eventually become a freestanding tree on its own.

Many times you will see people taking pictures of this unique tree and as you can see from the pictures this tree has taken host to a Cabbage Palm tree and has grown around the trunk.

Call for Resume

So you might like to become a member of the Board of Directors for Resort Sixty-Six? The Board of Directors consists of five (5) owner members who represent all the owners of Resort Sixty-Six in making decisions that affect the resort such as what projects need to be done or things that you would like to see at the resort. Your current Board remains in place until a member might either resign, retire, or until someone else runs for the Board and receives more votes than an existing Board member.

If you would like to run for the Board, all you need to do is email your name, address, daytime phone number and a brief paragraph (150 words or less) of why you would like to serve as a member of the Board of Directors.  Send your email to Association Administrator Christine Giordano at
Your emailed request must be received no later than 40 days before the annual meeting so that your information can be included with the election ballot.

Good luck and we will see you at the annual meeting in January!
